Joe Dean Tidwell (1947-49) enjoyed a solid three-year career earning all-league honors in each of his seasons at Hardin College.

Tidwell garnered first-team All-Texas Athletic Conference accolades at tailback in 1947 and 1948 before making the move to full back for his senior season in 1949.

He earned second-team All-Gulf Coast Conference honors while helping Hardin to its best season in school history as the Indians rolled to a 10-1 record and a mythical small college championship.
