Earl Beechum stands as a Midwestern State basketball icon.

He entered Midwestern as a freshman in 1963 after graduating from Carthage (Texas) High School before becoming MSU’s third basketball All American.

Beechum scored 2,145 points in his four years at Midwestern, which stood as the school’s scoring record before falling in 1975.

He scored a school-record 818 points as a junior which stand as the most in a single season.

Beechum was named to the NAIA All-America teams in 1966 and 1967 before enjoying a lengthy professional career in Europe.

Beechum’s teams advanced to the NAIA National Tournament after claiming District 8 championships in 1966 and 1967.

He was named to the NAIA All-Star team in 1967.
