Daniel Woolard stands as one of the finest defenders to ever play in the storied history of Midwestern State soccer.

The Bedford, Texas earned NSCAA All-America honors and was the Southwest Soccer Conference Defender of the Year as a senior in 2006 when he led the Mustangs to an 18-2-2 mark while reaching the South Central Region finals.

Woolard, who also gained first-team All-SSC honors in 2005 and 2006 after gaining second-team mention as a sophomore in 2004, closed his career with the second most starts in school history with 80.

He notched two goals and dished out an assist in his four collegiate seasons, but was a stalwart for one of the best back lines in NCAA Division II each season of his career as he was a part of 38 shutouts.

Following his collegiate career, Woolard was drafted in the fourth round of Major League Soccer's 2007 Supplemental Draft by the Chicago Fire.

After spending the 2007 season on reserve, he appeared in 16 matches in 2008 and 2009.

Woolard competed with the Carolina Railhawks of the NASL before making his return to MLS with D.C. United where he made 73 starts from 2011-13.
