Joyce leads Mustangs trio on All-LSC team

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State senior Luke Joyce was named a Lone Star Conference Player of the Year and joins senior Colby Meeks and freshman Kyle Davidson on the All-Lone Star Conference Tennis Team.
 
The team is selected by the conference head coaches.
 
Joyce, a senior from Johannesburg, South Africa, joined Abilene Christian senior Hans Hach as the LSC Players of the Year.  Both were named to the All-LSC Team in singles and doubles.
 
Joyce is ranked 44th in singles by the ITA and part of the ninth ranked doubles team that has led the Mustangs to a 16-5 record and is tied for second in the LSC at 1-2.  Joyce played exclusively at No. 1 in both singles and doubles for MSU.
 
Joyce was also named to the LSC's All-Academic Team.
 
Meeks, a senior from San Angelo, Texas/Central, is the second half of the ninth ranked doubles team that sports a record of 16-3 this season, all at No. 1 doubles.  In addition to being named to the All-LSC team in doubles, Meeks was selected as an honorable mention in singles.
 
Davidson was named to the All-LSC team in singles and is one of the Lone Star Conference Freshmen of the Year.  He sports a 13-8 record in singles and is 15-6 in doubles.
 
Also named Freshmen of the Year are Dennis Merdan of Cameron, Nicklas Wingord of Abilene Christian and Tucker Brown of Incarnate Word.
 
The LSC Newcomer of the Year is Jair Assuncao of Incarnate Word.  Cameron's James Helvey is the LSC Coach of the Year.
 
Also named as All-LSC in singles are Nicolai Ferrigno, Duje Janjic and Dennis Merdan of Cameron, Guilherme Gesser of Abilene Christian and Assuncao and Leonard Ivic of Incarnate Word.
 
Also chosen to the All-LSC squad in doubles are Hach and Gesser, along with teammates Jason Practor and Borja Cortes from ACU, and DeLeon and Ivic from UIW.
 
The Mustangs open play in the Lone Star Conference Tournament semifinals at the Southlake Tennis Center in Southlake, Texas, on Friday at 1:30 against Cameron.  The winner meets the winner of the Abilene Christian vs. Incarnate Word semifinal on Saturday at noon in the tournament championship match.
