WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The Midwestern State Mustangs remain fourth in the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Rankings released Wednesday afternoon by the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Committee.
The Mustangs have a 15-5 overall record this spring, with a 12-4 Division II record and 8-3 record within the South Central Region.
Cameron (14-1 DII, 14-0 in region) is the top team, with Abilene Christian (5-5 DII, 4-2 in region) second and Incarnate Word (6-2 DII, 5-1 in region) third. After MSU is the Heartland Conference's St. Mary's (5-4 DII, 5-3 in region) fifth and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Colorado Mesa (8-7 DII, 8-7 in region) sixth.
The Mustangs host St. Edward's on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the MSU Tennis Center to close the regular season.
This is the second of three regional rankings before the committee selects the four participants from the region for the 2013 NCAA Division II Tournament on April 23. The conference tournament winners of the Heartland and Rocky Mountain Athletic are awarded automatic berths, with two additional at-large teams being selected.
Regional matches will be played at the top two seeds from April 27-30, with the winners advancing to the Sweet 16 in Surprise, Ariz., May 8-11.
