The Cardinals (3-7 Overall, 0-2 LSC) bring a three-match losing streak into Thursday night's showdown with Midwestern State. UIW has definitely been a streaky squad early this season. The Cardinals dropped their first four matches at the Colorado Mines Classic before claiming wins in their opening three games at the Tarleton State Invitational then lost the last three including LSC defeats at home this week to Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas Woman's University. Incarnate Word is paced on the attack by freshman outside hitter Angelique Vidaurri at 3.12 kills per set while sophomore outside hitter Kelci Lind adds 2.55 kills per set. Junior setter Danielle Suarez pilots the attack with 5.97 assists pet set while leading the Cardinals to a .147 team attack percentage. Senior libero Lydia Werchan paces the back row with an LSC best 5.45 digs per set, while sophomore middle blocker Baleigh Schaetter notches 0.76 blocks per set.
All-Time Series: Midwestern State leads the series, 9-7.
Coach Flores-Stafford on the Cardinals:   "Incarnate Word is a big team, very athletic so we'll have to be much attuned to what we're doing and not get caught up in their athleticism. They are a big, hard swinging team which is pretty much the same as the whole conference. We're big, athletic and we're going to swing hard."

The Javelinas (6-4 Overall, 0-2 LSC) have cooled off to drop four of their last five matches after opening the season with five straight wins. TAMUK experienced back-to-back sweeps at home at the hands of Texas Woman's and Texas A&M-Commerce to open league play last weekend. The Javelinas' attack is paced by junior outside hitter Dedra Brown (3.62 k/s, .274 atk pct.) and sophomore outside hitter Kelsey Washington (2.79 k/s, .173 atk pct.) while sophomore setter Sarah Fountain pilots the offense averaging 9.14 assists per set leading the Javelinas to a .203 team attack percentage. Senior libero Ali Insell leads back row efforts at 4.57 digs per set, while freshman outside hitter Kelsee Felux (0.49 b/s) and Erin Hoelscher (0.4 b/s) are solid at the net.
All-Time Series: Texas A&M-Kingsville leads the series, 13-8.
Coach Flores-Stafford on the Javelinas:  "Texas A&M-Kingsville is athletic and very smart on their offense. They are quick and relentless on defense so we'll definitely have to work all of our angles."

ABOUT THE MUSTANGS

Midwestern State (2-8 Overall, 0-2 LSC) hits its home floor for the first time this season Thursday night against Incarnate Word. The Mustangs hope the comfortable confines of D.L. Ligon Coliseum will be just the medicine to them out of a tough stretch. MSU has lost its last five matches and 15 sets but is just now starting to get healthy heading into the meat of the Lone Star Conference slate. The Mustangs are led on the attack by senior outside hitter Shelbi Stewart (3.16 k/s, .252 atk pct.) and junior middle blocker Caitlin Wallace (2.44 k/s, .274 atk pct) while sophomore setter Kristan Aduddell averages 6.84 assists per set leading the Mustangs to a .145 team hitting percentage. Sophomore libero Casey Fletcher leads back row efforts with 3.59 digs per set while Wallace (0.62 b/s) and sophomore middle blocker Kasey Decker (0.50 b/s) lead the way at the net.

Coach Flores-Stafford said: "We're excited to be home. We love playing in front of our home fans. Hopefully we can get a lot of support from everyone and make them all proud."
