JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Paced by Derek Oland's 69, Midwestern State charged back into contention with a second round 594 Tuesday afternoon at the Jefferson City Country Club.
 
Oland, a 6-2 freshman from McKinney, posted one of only two sub-70 scores to help the Mustangs leap ahead five spots to the seventh position with a two-day total of 594.
 
Midwestern State is amongst a group of 11 teams packed within 10 strokes from No. 2-12 on the team leader board.
 
Five teams will emerge from the scrum to advance to the national finals at the Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Ky. as part of the 2012 Division II Spring Championship Festival from May 15-18.
 
The final round of the NCAA Division II Midwest/South Central Regional commences Wednesday morning.
 
Oland, who stands tied for 15h with a two-round total of 147, posted four birdies on what remained a par-free card until he suffered his first blue mark on his 17th hole of the day on the Par-3 No. 8. He was bettered only by Central Oklahoma's Josh Creel, who fired a second-round 68.
 
Senior Trevor Arianna battled through a pair of double bogeys by carding a team-best five birdies to post even-Par 72 to match teammate Sam Smith with a two-round total of 149 to tie for 27th place. Smith, a junior from Archer City, carded a 76 Tuesday afternoon.
 
Junior Raine Copeland provided the fourth countable tally in the second round with a 3-over 75 for a two-round total of 152 to tie for 53rd.
 
Sophomore Jeremy LeGuen is tied for 70th with round scores of 75 and 79 for a total of 154.
 
Central Missouri tops the leader board after the Mules posted the best team score of the second consecutive round with tallies of 286 and 289 for a total of 575. UCM boasts a 15-stroke lead over Central Oklahoma (590) and Washburn (590) heading into Wednesday's final round.
 
Central Missouri's Jared King tops the individual leader board with a 5-under 139 posting round scores of 68 and 71 to lead Central Oklahoma's Josh Creel by a single stroke.
 
The two individuals not on an advancing team also advance to national championship play.
