The Mustangs plated a run on a Mallory Mooney sacrifice fly in the first inning and added another run Courtney Ford's seventh homer in the third inning.

Ford extended her hit streak to four consecutive at bats with a two-run double to the left-field gap in the fourth inning then collected a single to left field in the sixth.

Incarnate Word broke up Hennan's shutout bid when Lea Padilla scored on a wild pitch in the fourth inning.

The Cardinals chipped away with three runs in the fifth inning highlighted by Sarah O'Brien's two-run homer to left field and UIW tacked on another run in the sixth inning but could get no closer than six runs.
