#9 Midwestern outlasts #5 Tarleton State in triple OT, 80-75

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Anthony Harris bombed in four 3-pointers as No. 9 Midwestern State outlasted No. 5 Tarleton State 80-75 in triple overtime Monday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

The Mustangs scored six consecutive points in the final overtime period to finally put away Fabian Wilson and the Texans.

Wilson, who finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds, hit a 3-pointer at the end of regulation, beat the buzzer with a layup at the end of the first overtime and his free throws with 37 seconds to go in second overtime all extended the game for Tarleton which fell to 21-3 on the season and to 12-2 in LSC play.

There were plenty of heroes for the Mustangs who claimed their fifth straight win to improve to 21-2 on the season and took over the league lead at 14-2.

MSU overcome a 58-54 deficit in the first overtime with the help Harris' fourth trey of the game before Keonte' Logan lined a shot from the right wing to give the Mustangs a 62-60 lead with 10 seconds to play. But Tarleton rushed the length of the floor to tie the game on Wilson's layup.

Midwestern faced another four-point deficit in the second overtime, but Logan nailed another big 3-ball from the top of the key and David Terrell converted a three-point play to put the Mustangs up 71-60 with 50 seconds to play. But once Wilson tied the game on a pair of free throws to force a third overtime.

The Mustangs took control by scoring the first seven points of the period by going 5-for-6 at the charity strip as JaMichael Rivers powered his way for a layup to help MSU take control with a 78-71 lead and hang on for the win.

It was the 13th consecutive home win for the Mustangs who avenged a loss to the Texans earlier this month in Stephenville. MSU has won 54 of its last 55 under the dome.

Harris paced the Mustangs with 20 points and eight rebounds and joined by four others in double figures including Terrell (11 points, 5 rebounds), Darrick Thomas (10 points, 10 rebounds), Michael Loyd (10 points, 7 assists) and Rivers (10 points). Logan finished a solid all-around performance with nine points, seven assists and four rebounds.

Wes Dipprey added 19 points and 16 rebounds for the Texans.

Midwestern State returns to action Saturday against Central Oklahoma at D.L Ligon Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
