WICHITA FALLS – The Midwestern State women came out strong and never looked back as they claimed a 9-0 victory over Texas-Tyler Tuesday afternoon.
The MSU women improved to 6-2 after dispatching NCAA Division III's 23rd ranked Patriots (8-2).
"We had a very solid match on the women's side," MSU Coach
Scott Linn stated. "
Lindsey Holcomb was very aggressive and had great body language."
Holcomb teamed with
Ashley Huse at No. 3 doubles to beat Ashley Albro and Lauren Giovanni 8-3, then clocked Brittany Trich in singles 6-1, 6-0.
Huse, who was the last match on the court, battled Morgan Wilkins 7-6 (5), 6-1 to complete the MSU sweep.
"Ashley did a great job of playing point-by-point to not let the team down," Linn added.
Rozike van Rensburg and
Alex Odell-Michels took down Michelle Hagler and Jessica Blundell 8-1 in doubles. Van Rensburg then beat Hagler 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, while Odell-Michels ripped Giovanni at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-0.
