Hagan gains Division II Bulletin All America honorable mention

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State's Chris Hagan garnered All-America honorable mention Monday afternoon by the Division II Bulletin.

Hagan led the Mustangs to a second consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight after leading the South Central Region while ranking 17th in NCAA Division II at 21.4 points per game.

The senior from Houston earned LSC South Division Player of the Year honors became the eighth two-year player in MSU history to amass 1,000 points and stands fourth in the all-time two-year scorers list with 1,188 points standing behind a pair of NAIA All Americans in Tony Forch (1,391 points) and Henry Crawford (1,320).

Hagan was also the first MSU player in 25 years to score 700 points in the season as he finished the season with 707 points which included numerous shining and memorable moments.

The 5-9 guard set a school record with 50 points in an 91-82 win over Cameron on Dec. 13, 2010 at Aggie Gym which included eight 3-pointers and he would break the 30-point barrier on three other occasions including 36 against Angelo State on Feb. 23, 33 at Eastern New Mexico on Feb. 9 and 32 at Angelo State on Jan. 12.

Hagan tallied at least 10 points in 30 of 33 games and scored 20-or-more points on 20 occasions.

He notched his only double-double with 18 points and 10 assists against Southwestern Christian on Nov. 17, 2010.

Hagan capped the season being named Most Outstanding Player at the South Central Regional leading the Mustangs to consecutive wins over No. 17 Tarleton State, No. 9 Missouri Southern and No. 4 Central Oklahoma.

He was named a Preseason All-America Honorable Mention by The Sporting News and twice copped LSC South Division Player of the Week honors.

Hagan earned second-team All-LSC South accolades as a junior in 2010 and was named to the NCAA II South Central Region All-Tournament team.
