WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State's Craig Green earned Lone Star Conference South Division Offensive Player of the Week honors Monday morning when the league announced its weekly awards.

The senior guard poured in a career-high 33 points to lead No. 7 Midwestern State to a 72-69 win to give the Mustangs a sweep of Tarleton State Saturday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

Green scored 20 second-half points including 17 of MSU's 22 points in the final 8 1/2 minutes as the Mustangs overcame an eight-point deficit to claim sole possession of the LSC South Division lead.

The Keller product canned six 3-pointers on his way to a 10-of-15 shooting night while going 7-for-9 from the charity stripe.

The career performance came on the heels of Green's 8-point, 6-rebound showing in the Mustangs' 66-49 win over the Texans Wednesday night at Wisdom Gym.

Green averaged 20.5 points and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 13-of-26 (50 percent) from the field including a 6-of-12 (50 percent) performance from beyond the arc last week.

Midwestern State, which is off to its best start in school history at 21-1, faces West Texas A&M Wednesday night in Canyon before returning to D.L. Ligon Coliseum Saturday night to play host to Eastern New Mexico.

Tickets are available for pre-sale at the MSU Athletics Offices or by calling 397-4779.

Tip-ins

Dome Magic... Midwestern State extended its home court winning streak to 23 games with a 72-69 win over Tarleton State Saturday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The streak is easily the longest in the Lone Star Conference and South Central Region and is the fourth longest in NCAA Division II. Only Findlay (48), C.W. Post (38) and West Liberty (28) own longer streaks.

Sweeping the Texans... The Mustangs earned their fourth sweep of Tarleton State in the eight seasons in which the teams competed in the same Lone Star Conference division since the league adopted the format for the 1997-98 season. MSU gained regular season sweeps in 1998-99, 1999-2000, 2007-08 and this season. The Mustangs and Texans split in three of the seasons, while Tarleton swept in 2005-06. Midwestern is 11-5 against the Texans during the eight common division seasons. The Mustangs have gone on to win conference championships each season they swept the Texans.

Streak, streaks, streaks... Midwestern extended its most recent winning streak to seven games with Saturday night's 72-69 win over Tarleton State at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. It's the fourth time in the past two seasons that the Mustangs have won has many consecutive games. MSU has notched sequential streaks of 10, 9, 14 and now 7 games over the past two seasons. There have been just 10 streaks by LSC teams of 7 games or more over the past two seasons as MSU has four of them and Central Oklahoma (7,8,13) has three, while Angelo State (7), Northeastern State (7) and Tarleton State (7) have the others.

Mustangs nullify Tarleton on the arc... Tarleton State rolled into the week shooting 37.5 percent as a team from the 3-point arc which ranked third in the LSC, but the Texans fared not as good against Midwestern. The Mustangs harassed Tarleton into an 18.6-percent (8-for-43) showing from 3-point land.

Bombs away... Midwestern bettered its 32.8 percent team 3-point shooting by hitting 19-of-45 shots (42.2 percent) from 3-point range in its two wins over Tarleton State.
